Introspection is out, and outrospection is in.

Whilst introspection has been the watchword for a 20th Century therapy culture, Philosopher and author Roman Krznaric suggests that individuals can find out who they are and what they want to do with their lives through the power of outrospection.

By stepping outside of your own being, outrospection can promote empathetic thinking – described by Krnaric here as "the ultimate art form for outrospection". He suggests that outrospection can help us to think creatively, strengthen our relationships with others and perhaps create radical social transformations.

With an upsurge in empathetic thinking, could society better combat large-scale issues such as climate change and poverty? Human libraries where people can borrow other people for conversations is one idea Krznaric suggests that could bring empathy into our lives through habitual patterns of behaviour.
