The Bipolar Blues

A moving account of what it is like to suffer from bipolar disorder.

For more than two decades Twink, a former photographer for The Jam, has suffered from bipolar disorder. In this short film by the Wellcome Trust, Twink reflects on his condition, which affects one in every 100 adults and causes sufferers to feel highly elevated or strongly depressed.

Professor Nicholas Craddock from the Cardiff University School of Medicine explains the research being conducted into the genetic factors underlying bipolar disorder in an attempt to better understand the condition.
