Genomes Certainly Are Tricky

Nature presents an animated ‘Story of You’, a tale which begins in the 1800s with an Austrian Monk and takes us right up to the present day with the study of modern genetics.

Discovering the DNA double helix, Watson, Crick and Franklin provided an understanding of exactly how this story is written, an anthology of over 3 billion letters, written from a meagre alphabet of 4 (ACGT). This later paved the way for the Human Genome Project and the more recent ENCODE project, where scientists are now looking to the future and highlighting crucial parts of this text to understand how the story of you works.
