The Secret Life of Plankton
About this video
A teaspoon of seawater can contain more than a million living creatures.
A friendly Red Snapper guides us through the unusual world of marine plankton. From tiny plants and crabs to creatures longer than the length of a blue whale, this film uses stunning photography to take us into a microscopic ecosystem teeming with life.
Exploring these dark depths reveals a beautiful complexity across a diverse category of organisms including animals, plants, bacteria and archaea. The vast quantity and array of life found at this level underpins the largest food web in the world.
The Secet life of Plankton was made by Thierney Thys with Christian Sardet (CNRS) Noe Sardet and Sharif Mirshak (Parafilms) creators of the fascinating Plankton Chronicles project.
