The Plankton Chronicles - Iridescent Ctenophores
About this video
Shimmering waves of light
In this video we’re treated to the shimmering marvel of iridescent Ctenophores, which refract waves of light along their rows of beating cilia. Although some may resemble jellyfish with the presence of long tendrils, these organisms possess no sting and are instead referred to as 'comb jellies'.
Along with cnidarians and sponges, Ctenophores are amongst the oldest animals in the world.
