Schrödinger's Cat

Letting the cat out of the box.

Can a cat be both dead and alive at the same time? And if so what does this mean about the nature of reality (and cats)?

Henry Reich's Minute Physics explores these questions in a characteristically down to earth explanation of a particularly famous quantum kitty, known as 'Schrödinger's Cat'.

Even before the time of YouTube we were preoccupied with cats, with Erwin Schrödinger selecting one as the basis of his now legendary thought experiment in 1935 to explore the paradoxical nature of quantum mechanics.

As Reich reassures us, no (observable) cats were harmed in the making of this video.

For more feline thought experiments catch up with Philosopher of physics David Wallace as he guides us through the many-worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics and the mind-bending claims it makes about our reality.
