Fluid and mysterious identity

The pygmy seahorse (Hippocampus bargibanti) are among the smallest seahorses in the world. Adults attach onto sea fan corals (Muricella paraplectana) and camouflage is critical to their survival. Orange seahorses attach onto orange sea fans and purple seahorses attach onto purple sea fans. But, do they search for a matching coral or change their colour to match the available coral? Deep Look and researchers at the California Academy of Sciences beautifully capture the answer to this question.
