Short Films, Big Ideas – The best of the GE Focus Forward films featuring world-changing innovators and inventions.

The award-winning Focus Forward series from GE celebrates the life-altering work of some remarkable people and inventions, portrayed by a team of the world’s most highly-acclaimed documentary filmmakers.

Their mission was to tell the story of a world-class innovator or life-altering idea in as little as 180 seconds. The resulting 30 films give inspiring snapshots of people and discoveries that are set to reshape the modern world.

This collection features 6 of the best videos from both the documentary series and the GE Focus Forward Filmmaker Competition entries, as curated by the Ri Channel team. From the world’s first official cyborg, to articificial leaves, pollution-detecting bacteria and some truly remarkable medical advances.

The competition offered the same creative brief to filmmakers across the world, receiving entries from 69 countries. Cyborg Foundation and The Artificial Leaf were awarded first and second place.

You can watch the rest of the commissioned documentaries and competition finalists, on the Focus Forward website.
